Josh Harris seems like a dude kind of off his rocker. Obviously his contributions to the web are numerous, but the way he went about creating companies just to blow the profits on crazy experiments seemed rather stupid to me. He could have easily pioneered the same results out of smaller experiments that were less detrimental to people, especially with his whole underground hotel thing. I definitely applaud him for living under constant scrutiny in many situations, as I don’t think I could do that. The 24/7 scrutiny of the surveillance cameras in every single inch of space would be way too overwhelming.
Considering that it was brought up in 1945, the Memex idea by Bush is pretty crazy thinking for that time. It is very similar to our current internet system, but obviously Bush thought it would be a mechanized ordeal. Because of the lack of technology back then and the fact that the internet had no thoughts even being given about it, the memex was along the same lines of a place where we can place all of our thoughts, books, pictures, etc. The only difference is that we can share all of those with others if we want to, rather than just using it for personal storage.
Tim has obviously had a huge impact on the internet and how it is all assembled. He has brought his W3C website to millions providing all of us with a resource to teach us how to place our own information on the world wide web. Without all of his contributions it would be much more difficult for the average person to find info on how to complete all things web oriented: from CSS to HTML. I know that I definitely relied on his site for some assistance on my projects.
